Waterguard is rather fond of our roots here in God’s own county – which is why we couldn’t let this year’s ‘Yorkshire Day’ pass without a doff of the proverbial (flat) cap. All puns aside, our spot in the north of England is far more than whippets and a regional dialect only few can decipher – in fact, it’s home to all five of Waterguard’s bases. So, let’s take a whistle-stop tour…

Barnsley

With a lengthy history in coal mining and glass making, the heritage of Barnsley is rooted in industry, which is why our HQ is found just on the outskirts of the centre, in a little corner of Oakwell – not too far from the town’s football stadium.

We have two spaces within the Oakwell Business Centre, where our team of head office staff look after everything from operations and customer service to marketing and stores. Not only that, but our team of engineers is also, primarily, from the town – and known for a penchant for a superb Barnsley Chop and pint of local IPA to round off another busy week.

Sheffield

Hop onto the M1 and you’ll soon arrive at our Sheffield base, which is home to all-things-research and development. One of the wonderful things about Waterguard is that we never stop learning – you’ll often find devices spread around our general manager’s kitchen worktops – and are continually striving to make our products better.

From implementing customer feedback and ideas, to working on a soon-to-be-revealed new solutions, the team here are never short of things to do – making for a great place to visit when you’re in the city.

Pontefract

Cross over into the West Riding of Yorkshire and you can head to the market town of Pontefract – home to our accounting and procurement team. What this lot doesn’t know about an excel spreadsheet isn’t worth knowing – and they are the people who help to ensure we continue to grow as a business and are able to invest in the research and development we pride ourselves on.

Rotherham and York

Last but by no means least, all Waterguard products and accessories are manufactured in either Rotherham or York, before being shipped to our Barnsley HQ for packaging and delivery to customers throughout the breadth of the UK.

If this isn’t an example of a truly Yorkshire business, frankly, we don’t know what is. Have a good Yorkshire day, folks!
