The detrimental impact that water damage can have on a property or construction site is not a new concept, but across the board, people are becoming increasingly aware of the impact such egress can have on even the best laid plans.

As a result, decision-makers are taking the necessary precautions to prevent the worst from happening.

Waterguard’s BREEAM WAT 04 compliant Passive Infra-Red (PIR) system can be used in any wet area – including toilets, shower rooms, kitchens, and even water fountains –  and works  in tandem with our two-metered Series 7 products, to offer extra protection and conserve more water.

Compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS), the Water Regulations Approval Scheme (WRAS), and UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) criteria, the PIR offers industry-approved quality and assurance.

Available for pipe sizes from 15mm to 35mm, the system can activate up to three valves for the hot, cold, and grey water supply, and  opens up water supply  when a person enters the room. There is then an adjustable delay, from when the space is vacated before the water supply is isolated — which can be set between 6 seconds and 20 minutes.

When the timer is first triggered, the system will operate for the period first selected by the installer. If the timer is activated before it has reached the set period, the time will reset once more — ensuring uninterrupted water supply in heavily-frequented areas. If  movement is no longer detected, the countdown will resume, and the valves will automatically isolate supply when the time reaches zero.

Like all of our water leak detection systems, maintenance is required to optimise the performance of the product – although this is minimal. We recommend users dismantle the unit and clean with limescale remover every 12 months, and be conscious to replace the battery (3V lithium) after continued power loss. It’s that simple!
