Identifying excessive water flow and preventing surplus amounts of escape is an essential part of any building maintenance strategy. That’s because early leak detection can mean the crucial difference between small-scale disruption that’s straightforward to resolve, and damage that costs several hours and hundreds – if not thousands – of pounds to repair.
Armed with automated leak detection technology, organisations can not only remove the headache of resource monitoring and make the process of damage control more efficient, they can also help to protect one of the world’s most precious resources – which should be at the fore of every business agenda in today’s sustainability climate.
Making it easier to boost your green credentials – and take care of money and maintenance in the process – the Waterguard Home system protects properties by timing the water flowing through the pipes, and resetting every time the movement stops.
Users are able to set what is known as low guard and high guard – the minimum and maximum amounts of time water is able to flow when a property is occupied, with the former ranging from zero to two minutes and the latter ranging from one to thirty.
If the maximum time is exceeded on either of these levels, the stop valve is automatically activated to close off the water supply and mitigate the risk of burst or leaking pipes – with the ability to manually reinstate if and when required.
Some of the primary features include:
- 2 guard levels
- Simple, language free controls
- 12V and 240V controls with integrated rechargeable back-up battery
- Minimal power usage
- Continued protection – before complete loss of power, the water is automatically isolated
- Automatic guard level switching available via the property’s intruder alarm or PIR sensor.
- BMS connection available.
- Available for pipe sizes 15mm-28mm
What’s more, the product can be augmented with wireless reset fobs, so you can reinstate the supply from anywhere in the property – no need to get up close and personal with the mains. Plus, there are further optional extras to connect up to five isolation valves for added protection, and enable SMS alert notifications for up to four devices.
Because the Waterguard Home includes only Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) certified plumbing components, and is approved by both the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) and UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking, you can be confident that the solution is compliant with high standards set out by industry regulations too.
Although this flexible, automated leak detection system is primarily designed to suit the requirements of individual residential dwellings, its capabilities also extend to enable use in high rise and multi-occupancy properties, as well as small office spaces.
